Asset Languages by Cambridge Assessment — a flexible approach to multilingual assessment

Asset Languages is a multilingual assessment service developed by Cambridge Assessment for the UK government. It provides a comprehensive language assessment service, which can be specifically tailored to the language and cultural needs of your country.

What does Asset Languages do?

Asset Languages:

  • Is a multilingual service, currently available in 25 languages
  • Promotes lifelong learning from primary through to secondary, further and adult education
  • Uses a step-by-step system with a practical approach, reflecting real-life language skills
  • Is broken down into six stages each benchmarked against the six levels of the CEFR. Each stage is then split up into smaller steps designed to increase learners’ motivation and sense of achievement
  • Is divided into listening, reading, writing and speaking modules – learners can choose the modules which are of use and interest to them
  • Is designed to fit in with existing teaching programmes and is easily adaptable to any context of learning
  • Is available as both a pen and paper test and a computer-based test.

The table indicates how Asset Languages compares with the CEFR but there is not a precise equivalence.
