9 December 2008

The Cambridge International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) has been recognised by Queen Mary, University of London for entry purposes onto their LLM courses.

A Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) score of C1 in ILEC will now be accepted for direct entry onto the courses. A CEFR score of B2 will also be acceptable if the applicant attends a further pre-sessional programme.

Students studying for an LLM at Queen Mary, University of London, who have not already taken ILEC, also have the opportunity to take the exam as part of the Queen Mary Legal Thinking and Writing Programme.

ILEC is a high-level English language qualification for lawyers and students of law, which assesses ability in line with the CEFR. It is aimed at those who have a good working knowledge of English language who want to develop their skills in a legal environment. ILEC is produced by Cambridge ESOL in co-operation with TransLegal, Europe's leading firm of lawyer-linguists.
