Indian lion conservationists asks Cambridge to help sustain English language skills

27 April 2009

Cambridge ESOL is pleased to announce that the Gujarat State Lion Conservation Society (GSLCS) has chosen to use their Key English Test (KET) as part of a recently launched English Language Training project in the Gir region.

The project, which is managed by the Concepts Institute of Education aims to develop the English language competency of newly recruited forest department staff. Around 200 forest guards and foresters will take part in English language coaching sessions with a focus on environmental issues.

As part of this initiative, they will sit Cambridge’s Key English Test (KET) to help measure their English Language proficiency at the end of the course.

KET is Cambridge’s exam which recognises the ability to deal with everyday written and spoken English at a basic level. It is at level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) — an internationally recognised benchmark of language ability.
