| 18 June | Italy: key policy-makers discuss language assessment for migration in Europe As immigration continues to dominate the headlines, key policy-makers in Europe came together in Rome to address the challenges ahead in using language assessment for integration. Language Assessment for Integration in the Italian Context on the 11 May was organised by the association of European language experts, ALTE, and their Italian member, the Centre for Evaluation and Language Certification (CVCL) from the University for Foreigners in Perugia. | 28 May | English programme set to improve skill-set for 45,000 of Mexico's workforce of tomorrow A new English language initiative for up to 45,000 Mexican students will benefit the workforce of tomorrow, according to language school Harmon Hall. The agreement between Cambridge ESOL and the well known chain of private language schools will give access to internationally recognised English language qualifications to students at the 110 schools throughout Mexico as well as numerous corporate clients. | 11 May | Asia Fuels Demand for Business English Cambridge ESOL announced today that over the last 12 months more than 1000 new business and educational authorities across the world recognised its certificates and qualifications for business, education and immigration purposes. Half of the new organisations accepting Cambridge’s BULATS – an assessment of real-life communications skills for business - were key businesses and educational authorities based in Asia. | 27 April | Peru-based English teacher-trainer gets top prize from Cambridge Peru-based English teacher-trainer Ralph Grayson has recently been awarded a prize by a department of Cambridge University in recognition of his teaching skills. Ralph, who currently teaches at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, was presented the Best Practice in Teacher Training – a new Scholarship from Cambridge ESOL for his ideas and work on using authentic reading materials in the English language classroom.

| 26 April | Dublin Language school teams up with Cambridge for computer-based English language project Dublin's English Academy has teamed up with a department of Cambridge University to offer computer-based language exams for thousands of students each year learning English. The Academy will offer a range of internationally recognised computer-based English tests offered alongside paper-based tests at its Dublin based language centre. The demand for this collaboration has been fuelled by students from mainland Europe and the rest of the world studying English in Ireland. |

This is round two of Cambridge ESOL's Funded Research Program which was initially launched back in November 2009. |

The courses will cover Language Testing in general, as well as Writing, Listening and Speaking. They will take place in Rome in the same week as ALTE's 38th meeting and conference, and a one day conference on language and migration in the Italian context. |

The three year contract with Cambridge ESOL is to use its Business Language Testing Service (BULATS). |
